# Figma Teaches AI Agents to Follow Your Design System

## The short version

At its first Config event in India, Figma announced tools that set boundaries for AI agents. The reasoning is simple: AI output is unpredictable and needs steering.

## What is new

- **Figma Specs.** A Markdown-based editor where a team describes its design language in plain text. It can embed canvas elements, FigJam diagrams and code layers, and both people and agents read it.
- **Shared context.** Design libraries, code libraries and guidelines live in one place so an agent follows the brand's rules.
- **Code layers.** The feature that puts code directly on a design to make prototypes interactive moved from private beta (June 2026) to public beta.
- **MCP.** Support grew by more than 20 tools.
- **Payload.** The open-source CMS Figma bought last year is being integrated into Figma Make for building dynamic sites. No date was given.

## Why teams should care

Figma's chief design officer Loredana Crisan pointed out that AI produces 17 times more lines of code but only 1.3 times more releases. In her view, much of that code is written to figure out what the product should be. Clear rules for agents are meant to narrow that gap.
