# Hype Check: Gudea and the “Storm Tracker for the Internet”

## What was claimed

Gudea calls itself a "storm tracker for the internet": AI studies more than 500 platforms, sees who is driving a conversation and tells companies how to head off a social media crisis before it starts.

## Why it is inflated

- **A number with no method.** According to the CEO, the share of inauthentic activity rose from one in four items to nine in ten. No sample is named and "inauthentic" is not defined.
- **Customers with no names.** Only categories such as "a Fortune 50 company" are given, which cannot be checked.
- **Inconsistencies.** The text gives the start year as both 2021 and 2023.
- **The future sold as the present.** Block-level geolocation and pre-launch ad testing are only plans.
- **It is a pitch.** The piece grew out of a startup competition appearance, and there is no independent accuracy test.

## Bottom line

Tools for tracking how information spreads are needed, but so far we see a confident presentation, not proven accuracy.
