# The Roadster jumps, but it is no aircraft

## The claim

Tesla's Roadster prototype has prompted talk of a 'flying car'. It briefly leaves the ground and performs striking stunts.

## What the evidence shows

The demonstration does not show a car capable of sustained travel through the air. WIRED itself notes that the flight is very short. The stunt is real; calling it a practical flying car goes beyond the evidence.
