On stage at TechCrunch Disrupt, the founders of Ricursive Intelligence said demand for compute will grow at least 10,000x within five years, and that AI which designs chips faster and more efficiently than people can rescue the situation.
Why it is inflated
The 10,000x figure was stated once, by a co-founder, with no calculation or source. She herself called it possibly conservative. The article has no tests, no comparison with conventional design and no named customers. The most interesting details, the wave-like layouts, were saved for later. The argument leans on the earlier AlphaChip project, but that is a different system and says nothing about this company.
Bottom line
Speeding up chip design is a sensible idea, but this is an investor pitch, not a result. Read the demand number as marketing.
